‘Little Thor' channels 'Little Darth' from The Super Bowl

Want a built-in audience? Channel an instant classic that has snagged roughly 36 million YouTube hits. Based on that model, Marvel has parodied Volkswagen's Super Bowl commercial "The Force" to promote their upcoming film "Thor."

In the iconic spot, a little boy in a Darth Vader outfit wandered his home in an attempt to use "The Force" on bunch of different items to no avail. After growing frustrated with each failed try, his dad eventually came home from work. As little Darth scurried past his dad, he tried his powers on the family's 2012 VW Passat. Little did he know that his dad was watching from inside and starts the car via remote. Instantly stupefied, the boy believed he channeled The Force.

The Thor commercial is pretty much the same shot-by-shot -- except for a surprise ending that hints what kind of powers 'The Mighty Thor' beholds.

Another superhero film based in the Marvel Comics universe, "Thor" stars Chris Hemsworth as a powerful and arrogant Norse warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. When he is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans as punishment, he learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world invades Earth.

It also stars Tom Hiddleston, Natalie Portman, Jaimie Alexander, and Anthony Hopkins with Kenneth Branagh directing.

It opens May 6.
